What is React, and why does it matter?

React is the most widely used front-end library for building user interfaces, developed and maintained by Meta and adopted across companies of every size — from early-stage startups to Netflix, Airbnb and Meta itself. Its component-based architecture makes large, complex interfaces manageable by breaking them into small, reusable, testable pieces, and its ecosystem (React Router, state management libraries, Next.js for full-stack apps) has become the default toolkit for modern web development. Companies choose React because it strikes a strong balance between flexibility and structure, has a huge hiring pool to draw from, and integrates well with TypeScript for larger codebases. Demand for React developers has stayed at the top of front-end hiring for several years running, and it's often the first framework companies list when hiring full-stack or front-end engineers. Our React track assumes solid JavaScript fundamentals and moves quickly into what actually matters on the job: components and props, state and hooks (useState, useEffect, custom hooks), routing with React Router, and connecting to real APIs. You'll also cover state management patterns (Context API, and an introduction to more advanced state libraries) and get exposure to Next.js, since a growing share of production React apps are now built on top of it. Every module builds toward a working application, so you leave with real, demonstrable React projects rather than isolated exercises.
